NTUC Income Insurance Essentials branding

Thought this was a very catchy way to engage consumers, make them think about how the cost of insurance stacks against the daily essentialls, while triggering people's thinking process that actually insurance might be an essential product as well.

"NTUC Insurance “Essentials”, a print advertising campaign developed by BBH Asia Pacific, featured the insurer’s latest life and health premiums that match the cost of daily consumer needs such as rice, bread and milk. The idea was simply to put affordability in a different context that was both surprising, engaging and very easy to understand. The campaign won Grand Prix and Gold at the 2012 SPH iink awards in Singapore."

Chartis to Switch Back to AIG Name

Chartis, the property and casualty unit of American International Group, will revert back to the AIG name, according to internal memos at the insurer, NU has learned.
AIG had rebranded its P&C unit as Chartis in 2009, and at one time considered making Chartis a separately traded, publicly held company.
In May of this year at the UBS Global Financial Service Conference, John Q. Doyle, CEO of global-commercial business at Chartis, said there were no lingering reputation issues for the P&C business, and he said Chartis' international operations were "begging us to rebrand as AIG."
Doyle added that there is "no reputational issue in our P&C business, anywhere."
The latest news of a switch back to the AIG name would involve both Chartis' domestic and international operations. AIG leadership has set several goals for Chartis, including a return on equity of 10-to-12 percent and a combined ratio in the 90 to 95 range by 2015.
AIG's property and casualty business looked to distance itself from its parent corporation with the name change to Chartis about three years ago. The financially-troubled AIG parent became caught up in losses from investments in credit default swaps and in September 2008 received more than $180 billion in government loans and credits to avoid collapse.
Robert H. Benmosche, CEO of AIG, declared about a year ago that the corporation's crisis was over and that it was independent of government support.
AIG has taken major steps to reduce the government's stake in the company. In early June the Federal Reserve Bank of New York announced two major loan facilities that enabled AIG to avoid collapse have been fully repaid.

Great Eastern is trying to generate customer engagement through a food blog

LIVE GREAT FOOD BLOG Great Eastern is actively promoting their new Health and Wellness initiative, the latest step being the Food blog which discusses health benefits of various foods.( http://livegreatfoodblog.com/ )

Having started almost a month ago, this has not however generated much engagement from the online community. The number of comments per post averages less then 1, despite the fact that Great Eastern has invested in a semi dedicated staffer having to post on the blog at least once a day.

This raises an interesting question, do insurance companies in general have what it takes to engage customers? Or do customers perhaps have a negative stigma of insurance companies and given a choice would try to stay away from having a conversation with insurers. If that's the case it might take more than a blog to break that stigma.

Manulife Singapore launches multi-faceted branding campaign "For your Future"

Manulife (Singapore) Pte Ltd has launched a multi-channel branding campaign. The campaign includes a TV commercial (TVC), out-of-home displays, an interactive online game and a social media programme. The island-wide integrated branding campaign is aimed at further boosting the company's brand awareness. The advertisements feature Manulife's iconic green cubes with key messages relating to life insurance, wealth management and retirement planning. The tagline "For your Future" expresses the company's commitment to provide solutions for clients' most significant financial decisions.

The campaign, which will run until the end of June, kicked off with the company's first ever TVC, as currently featured on Channels 5, 8, Channel NewsAsia and Starhub Cable. The TVC showcases a family expressing their goals and dreams, and illustrates how Manulife's unparalleled experience and portfolio provides personalised financial solutions that can help the family make their wishes come true.

The extensive campaign sees the green Manulife cubes taking prominent positions on taxis and in strategic locations at Serangoon MRT station and Dhoby Ghaut MRT station, the latter featuring a giant illuminated 2-D green cube with audio effects to attract passersby. The company will also hold a unique event at Knightsbridge, showcasing innovative forms of marketing activities to engage and entertain the audience on 18-20 May.

As part of its forward-thinking marketing campaign, Manulife has also extended into the social media and digital platforms, namely Facebook, Yahoo! Singapore and AsiaOne. In addition, QR codes can be found on outdoor advertisements. The public can scan the codes and take part in an online puzzle game based on the green Manulife cube theme. The game is also available through the Yahoo! Singapore and AsiaOne portals. By "liking" the Manulife Singapore Facebook page and playing the online puzzle game, fans and participants stand a chance to win one of three New iPads.

"At Manulife, clients are our main focus. Through this campaign, we want them to know that Manulife is their trusted financial partner. We will help them reach their goals, be it life insurance, wealth management or retirement planning, to support them and their families," said Ms Annette King, President & CEO of Manulife Singapore.

Manulife launched its first island-wide branding campaign in November 2010. The campaign has borne fruit, with the company's brand awareness more than doubling to 66%*. The latest campaign reiterates Manulife's brand promise of helping Singaporeans to become financially secure for their future.
